Concerns about election fraud are often raised by voters across the political spectrum and maintaining public confidence is essential to a healthy democracy. Election judges play a vital role in ensuring elections are fair, secure and accessible for all voters. By serving as an election judge, you will help voters at the polls, support the democratic process, and make an impact in your community.
An important safeguard of the election process is bipartisan representation among election judges. In Illinois, there must be an equal number of election judges from both major political parties whenever possible. DuPage County is often in need of additional Republican election judges to maintain balanced bipartisan representation at polling places.
Benefits of serving include:
Supporting free and fair elections
Earning compensation for training and Election Day service - $250 flat rate
Gaining valuable leadership and communication skills
Meeting and serving fellow community members
Whether you are a student, working professional, or retiree, becoming an election judge is a rewarding way to give back and strengthen democracy. As a former election judge, I had the opportunity to see firsthand the importance of civic engagement. One of my favorite memories was helping first-time voters navigate the process!
